Year to Date (YTD) is a time-based metric that measures the performance of an investment, portfolio, or financial metric from the beginning of the calendar year (January 1) to the present date. YTD is commonly used to track the progress of returns, revenue, or other financial measures and allows investors or analysts to assess how well an asset or company is performing over the current year.
If a stock has gained 8% since January 1, and today's date is November 1, the stock’s YTD return is 8%.
• Measures performance from the start of the calendar year to the current date.
• Used to track financial metrics such as returns, revenue, or growth within a specific year.
• Commonly applied in investment analysis and corporate financial reporting.
